Rose Zhang is a Toronto-based multidisciplinary artist working across installation, wearable art, painting, and sculpture. Her work examines surveillance, fear, femininity, and perception, exploring the condition of being both subject and object at once. The eye appears as a recurring motif throughout her practice, symbolizing perception as a form of power that cannot be dispossessed. Working largely with reclaimed textile and paper waste, she uses methods borrowed from her previous lives as a fashion, architectural, and concept designer. Utilizing ornament as a form of refusal and beauty as a lure, her work draws the viewer in before inviting deeper introspection.

Zhang's work has been presented in Toronto, New York, Los Angeles, and London. She is a graduate of Columbia University and a Master's candidate at the University of Oxford.
