ABOUT
According to Barthes, clothing is a language: an announcement of who you are to the world. Unkempt disrupts that language. Built from salvaged cocktail dresses, doilies, and fabric scraps, discarded objects and domestic labor take on the excess of adornment. Repurposed against their original function, the garment refuses to be read.
